We're bringing back our much-loved tradition on the porch at Cedar House. This is a fun opportunity to hear stories read aloud -- something we all enjoyed as kids, but you don't have to be a kid to enjoy it.
As the tradition goes, we’ll read a story written by the 19th century Scottish writer, George MacDonald - a huge favorite around here. The story this time will be The Wise Woman, or, as some publishers call it, The Lost Princess. Come for one night, or come for all of them!
MacDonald’s stories are known for being highly imaginative and full of deep, yet accessible teaching. As a writer, he was a true innovator, and had a significant influence on Lewis Carroll, J.R.R. Tolkien, C.S. Lewis, Charles Williams, and Madeleine L’Engle. (The photo of MacDonald shown here was actually taken by Lewis Carroll in the 1860's.)
