We've brought back a much-loved tradition on the porch at Cedar House. This is a fun opportunity to hear stories read aloud -- something we all enjoyed as kids, but you don't have to be a kid to enjoy it.
As the tradition goes, we’ll read short stories written by the 19th century Scottish writer, George MacDonald - a huge favorite around here. Last week we finished reading The Wise Woman, and tonight we’ll read two short stories: The Grey Wolf, and Port in a Storm. Come join us on the porch!
MacDonald’s stories are known for being highly imaginative and full of deep, yet accessible teaching. As a writer, he was a true innovator, and had a significant influence on Lewis Carroll, J.R.R. Tolkien, C.S. Lewis, Charles Williams, and Madeleine L’Engle. (The photo of MacDonald shown here was actually taken by Lewis Carroll in the 1860's.)
